Welcome to the home page of the Flux Gallery Press

The idea for the Press grew organically out of a series of occasional poetry readings  which took place at the Flux Gallery.
As these events became more popular we decided to publish an anthology  representing the work of some of the poets who
had read at the gallery. This book was called "The Great Refusal" and was published in June 2005. The launch was very lively
and the anthology sold very well. Encouraged by this success we have since gone on to publish a further 6 titles with another
three due for publication in the spring and early summer of 2008
.

We aim to promote and publish good quality poetry offering a platform for established and emerging poets. Because we are
both a performance venue and a publishing and design house we can offer a uniquely comprehensive service to our writers.
We take a very personal interest in all aspects of the publishing process from the editing through to the design and layout.
All the work is done in-house by our small team which includes a designer, an editor, a photographer and a bookbinder, all of
whom give their time for free. Because we are entirely self funded we have a high degree of creative autonomy.

Since October 2007 we have hosted our Poetry Cafe on the last Saturday of every month. These open evenings have proved extremely
popular with local poets and musicians. If you wish to perform please turn up early to put your name on the list. At our last event
in January there were 20 readers. It was an exciting event and everybody had a good time.

Periodically we have screenings at our Flux Film Club. Please check the films page for further details.

On the 29th of March we are hosting our first poetry workshop run by Ian Parks. This will start at 11am and run until 5pm.
For more information please go to the events page. As places are limited if you wish to reserve a place fill out the form on the contact page.
The workshop costs £10 and includes a free lunch and admission to the Poetry Cafe in the evening. This gives participants the opportunity
to perform the poems they have written during the day in front of a live audience.

If you have any queries or would like to be put on our mailing list please fill out the form on the contact page. We will get back to
you with regular updates on the variety of events that happen at the Flux Gallery. For a comprehensive list please go to the
events page. A list of our previous publications can be found on the publications page. We offer an online sales facility via Pay Pal.
All books purchased online will normally be dispatched within 48 hours.  We look forward to hearing from you.
